Starting Out As An Online Freelancer - Pakistan Freelance Guide

This series is aimed towards those who are trying to get into the wonderful world where one can work from his or her own home!

Guys, winning your first project is the most difficult job you'll ever get in this field. The entire online freelance community works on a crucial system of ratings. All major online marketplaces have rating systems which employers use to judge potential workers.

A person new to the world of freelancing is without a single rating, and so starting out can be very difficult. Few employers are willing to trust workers who have done no jobs on that marketplace previously.

But don't worry, we'll constantly update you with the latest tips and techniques to landing jobs, and hopefully guide you through the process. Feel free to communicate with us by leaving your comments below this post.

Part 1 of this series deals with setting up accounts on the most ideally suited freelancing marketplaces to those starting up!

Best Freelancing Websites for Pakistanis - Freelncing Help Desk-3

ELANCE
Hi Pakistani Freelancer,

This is the Part 03 of the Freelancer Help Desk Series of Trading And Business In Pakistan.

While there are a lot of reviews comparing various freelancing websites, few do it from the perspective of a Pakistani. I have taken the time out to do a little bit of research to identify which website is most suitable for us, in terms of cost and payment methods.

There are a number of freelancing websites out there that allow Pakistani workers to work on projects and then get paid on them. However, a lot of Pakistanis have problems receiving payments from abroad because we cannot have a Paypal account in Pakistan and relying on the postal system to receive checks via snail mail is not a preferred option.

This series will talk about the pros and cons of the major online freelancing marketplaces from our perspective. The next website we will be looking at is:

How to withdraw money from Skrill (moneybookers) in Pakistan

In order to withdraw your money in a Pakistani Bank Account, first You need to add your bank account to Skrill, and for this purpose you have to go to your Skrill (Moneybookers) account, and then follow these steps:

My Account > My Profile > LIST OF BANK ACCOUNTS

And then click on “Manage” to add your bank account details. You will need the swift code of your bank, you can get the swift code by calling your bank for example swift code of Soneri Bank Hyderabad is SONEPKKAHYD.

After getting the swift code information, you have to verify your bank account and for this purpose we think you have to upload a small amount perhaps 14$ or less, after this step Skrill (moneybookers) will send you a verification code. If in case you don’t get the verification code, you can visit the bank and get a bank statement of your account showing the moneybooker’s transaction ID.

Big Blast: Merger of Elance and oDesk

Elance & oDesk Merger

Fabio Rosati, CEO of Elance wrote that, Elance and oDesk have signed an agreement to merge with each other.  This is clearly big news, and I wanted to give you my perspective on what it means for you and why we decided to do it.

First, I want to make sure that you know that we plan to continue to operate two separate platforms at elance.com and odesk.com, respectively.

As for why we made the decision to merge, our motivation is pretty simple—we want to deliver you the best online freelancing experience possible. We plan to do this by making significant investments in technology, including tools for a more effective job search, seamless online collaboration and improved mobile accessibility. Also, with deeper expertise in data science, you will benefit from improved personalization and user experience.  Please do note that the merger is still subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions, and we expect it to close in the next four months or so.

I understand that this is a big change and you may have additional questions. Please visit the most Frequently Asked Questions on our website. And if you have suggestions on how we can make our service even better, please send me an email directly at Fabio.Rosati@elance.com.

Finally, thank you for trusting Elance with your freelancing career. We look forward to providing you with more opportunities to work differently.

Warm Regards,

Fabio Rosati
CEO, Elance
